The Wedding & Family Gathering

We missed udak Sepul's wedding in April, coz you know it's not easy for us to fly back to Kuching anytime we like. Babah showed us the pics he took during the wedding, but still it is kinda devastated, not to be there during your own uncle's big day :(
I have a dream of becoming a flower girl for the wedding *sob*sob* after all for us, it's more than just a wedding ~ it's kinda family gathering, an ideal time to meet your friends and relatives, be it close or distant...

Mama told me how she missed his own brother's wedding in 1997. She was in uum in her final semester, and to make things worse, she can't afford it financially to get back home to attend the wedding...and it was barely two months before she came back to kuching for good *sigh*

Therefore, we're not gonna miss wa Jum's wedding this time coz the date is just perfect, 12th June. So mama, adeeb, kak neesa & me checked out early from Ariva Gateway to attend the ceremony in Bako. Wa Jum is mama's first cousin, and mama felt guilty for not staying there longer...well, would you expect a mom of two 'well behaved' kids could survive in crowds? definitely a NO!!! mama acknowledged the fact that without babah around, life would be a disaster for her (yeah one point for babah!). Luckily kak neesa was there with us around the clock, and she helped mama a lot, from being a steadfast helper to a sherpa (ok I'm exaggerating!)

Anyway, we had a great time there despite the fact that mama was entirely exhausted carrying Adeeb all by herself right from the jetty point to nek Ndah's place...the wedding was quite happening, with thousands of people witnessed wa Jum's special day. Mama was so happy meeting her long lost cousins & relatives (really?)...she told me she had the most unforgettable childhood memory in Bako, but as time passed by, she hardly had time & opportunity to visit nekwan's family as often as she used to...in fact sad to say, we only visit nekwan's family in Bako once a year, which is on hari raya...

The best thing about the wedding was, nek Peranchis & family came all the way from Kedah, and also nek Usu with auntie Ida. I tell you when it comes to the agreement on the final date of the weddings, nekwan's siblings are the best...They made sure all their siblings could make it, no matter how far because the most thing matters is to share the joy & happiness with your loved ones...In some ways, the family gathering shows how you welcome the new member in the family, rite babah? wowww I sound like a family expert already hehehe

Another Weekend Getaway - Ariva Gateway

Guess wat? We had spent our weekend at the hotel again, to be exact a serviced apartment hotel. 2 weekends in a row? hmmm...wish babah were here! well, it was really a good thing as we are buying our own apartment in kajang...at least (I repeat) at least mama would get some ideas on how to decorate our soon to be apartment (she seems to let babah does every single thing, that's so typical of her hehe)

I was wondering why anjangs chose to stay at Ariva Gateway (formerly known as Somerset Gateway) in the first place...it is just within a 10 km radius from nekwan's place, or is it 5km? But mama hissed at me "could you please stop wondering why? we're on holiday anyway, so why bother? after all, it's on anjang, what more could we ask for?" chill out la ma, I was just wondering ##:(&$@%?## (please excuse the french!)

only then, I got the answer...our fav eating place ~ Top Spot is just a stone's throw away...nahhh adeeb objected, "it's just next door la kak!" yeah, this time I couldn't agree more :) and if you wanna go shopping, you can just walk to parkson or hills shopping mall...whoaaa this place is heaven!!!

and being some 'local tourists' *wink*wink* we really enjoyed sightseeing around this commercial heartland of kuching ...it's nothing like bintang walk in kay el, but this is the tourists' favorite place...I wish we had our pics taken with the cats' monument ~ a must for tourists!

when the rest went off for breakfast at the apartment's restaurant, the four of us (me, mama, bg haikal & bg zimin) had ours at the apartment...this is wat we called 'food at home' ;) adeeb told me later they didn't enjoy the breakfast at all coz you know, nothing much compared to other hotel's complimentary breakfast...

and finally, another reason to stay here ~ having a nice warm swim in
a fab breathtaking view pool :) how I wish our own apartment
has its own swimming pool *sigh*

Weekend Getaway - Damai Puri Resort

Last Saturday, we stayed at Damai Puri Resort, formerly known as Holiday Inn Damai Lagoon Resort. I wonder why babah never told us about this place.. it has breathtaking view as you can see from the photos below. The pool is so so huge! But it was raining when we arrived, quite heavy and it was frustrating coz no way babah will let us play in the rain..

but miraculously it stopped raining.. soon after we checked in. We booked connecting rooms and anjang stayed in the adjacent room, with Kak Neesa, Bg Harith.. everybody, so it was fun. We had great times playing in the pool for probably more than two hours
looks like Adeeb was the happiest!! He loves water so much.. that anywhere we go, he'll go crazy playing in the swimming pool. With the help of babah, Kak Neesa and me, and the floats, he was enjoying himself like nobody's business, as though he could really swim..

as for me, I prefer to 'swim' in shallow water.. where I can touch the pool floor with my hand, and I feel safer that way. Babah always reminded me to be extra careful as he have to 'take care' of adeeb.. that's alright babah, this will help me learn faster

it's still dangerous even the water is shallow cause when you walk in water, you could slip easily and it's very hard to get up especially if you stumble head down and it happened to me..

then we played at the beach, well what would it be like going to a beach resort just to swim in the pool? babah said I used to love playing with waves when I was about one year old. I believed him when he showed me a photo of me and mama playing at Similajau Beach in Bintulu.. but it's not the case now, I wouldn't dare go near the waves unless mama or babah hold my hand..

unlike me, adeeb had to be dragged from there.. Kak Neesa managed to bring him to mama who quickly took off his swimsuit and washed him from sands and stuff.. man, i hate sands..
men of our lives :)
