Finally, sungkei @ Hilton Kuching

Talking about puasa, in my last posting, I did mention about Baram or Param, which actually stands for Pasar Ramadhan. It was our only place to source for food for iftar. My favorite is a kilometre-long Param at PKNS Bangi as it offers more variety if you compare to what hotels offer for their Ramadhan iftar buffet. But somehow it is a must for me to eat at a hotel, at least once in the whole month of Ramadhan.. This year was no different, although, like the title suggests, finally we made it to the buffet just before the end of Ramadhan. On the 28th of Ramadhan to be exact and for that, babah chose Hilton's Waterfront Cafe &Terrace. And what a feast it was.. amid costly, it was a middle-eastern themed iftar that cost babah RM100++ per person. That's a lot of money! Think about it, if you pay that much at the entrance of a Param, and take home whatever you like, the hotel iftar buffet wouldn't have existed in the first place..

Other than the usual kuihs & mee rebus, there was also the Shawarma station with marinated lamb or chicken kebab, the tandoor oven station serving tandoor-marinated skewers of chicken, beef, lamb or seafood and the charcoal grill station with otak-otak ikan, satay, ayam percik, marinated lamb shoulder and others, although not my favorite.. you see, a 3 year old doesn't normally eat this.. hehe..

My favourite? of course the desserts!! Well, at my age you can't blame me.. it's not everyday that I can eat ice cream in a bowl like this..

Mama's favourite is the chilli crab while babah, beside enjoying himself being a carnivore, had gulped down 10 glasses of air bandung.. it was a record breaking feat of sort.. Well if you put a pink-colored iced drinks, in front of a, errr not-quite middle-aged, thirsty, man, served in a beautifully shaped jug, who can blame him for that.. (err.. mama did..)

Sungkei in Kuching

Last year, we had great time enjoying iftar at Honey Bistro...the price was cheap, the food was yummy, the ambience was great and bla bla bla the list goes on... so this year, when nekwan was too busy to prepare meals for iftar, all of a sudden I remembered this place. I suggested mama to have iftar there, together with nekwan & nekki...too bad feyfey & syaza couldn't join us, the more the merrier maaa (or they can blame others when I make trouble hehehe)

to tell you the truth, it is difficult to satisfy nekwan's taste buds...being an experienced cook, she would find flaws in every single food we bought home hehehe...however, surprisingly she loved the foods here, and she even planned to make the same sambal on her own *wink*wink*

Raya shopping in KL??? Naaahhh, not us...

Adeeb and me were excited of the possibility to shop in KL before we 'balik raya'. Anjang tena was here, sure to shopping maut, as mama said so it's just a matter of when. Anjang arrived a day after babah came from Miri, so that day they (without me & adeeb) went to the airport to fetch anjang and went straight to Jusco Mahkota Cheras. They spent about 3 hours there and left just in time for another shopping but this time for 'sungkei' at BaRam (Bazaar Ramadhan) or some people prefer to call it PaRam (go figure).. babah bought lots of food but still wasn't satisfied, babah babah ;)

we only went to KL the next day, anjang booked a room already at Maytower, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, so near to Jalan TAR and Jalan Masjid India already and Jakel is just behind the hotel. We arrived about 12 pm and check in time is 2 pm, so we went to nearby shops like Jakel and Mydin...

I thought our apartment in Kajang at 15th floor is so high already but this room that we stay was at 28th floor!! Lucky they locked the windows.. or else..

It wasn't really a shopping trip for us, mama went shopping with anjang and left us with babah.. I can't blame her, if you see the kind of crowd at SOGO, you will understand, thousands of people thronged the shopping centre for last minute raya shopping! We could easily lost in the crowd. But leaving us with babah? Well, it was like leaving us all by ourselves.. he slept the whole afternoon and we, as usual.. trashed the room! Babah promised he will take us down to the pool, but it was raining.. so we had our swimming in the shower instead and still had fun ;))))
